A Smiling Zebra exclusive! A historic and rare uncut interview with Academy Award winning actor Jon Voight. Shot in 1986 by yours truly Bill Day, with Rosa Calaf doing the interview. It covers a variety of topics that offer insight to Jon's eclectic philosophical and religious views. Jon was raised Catholic, but began a broader spiritual inquiry during the 1980's. At the time of this interview Jon was involved with the Self Realization Fellowship - founded by Paramahansa Yogananda, widely revered as a spiritual figure. His book, "Autobiography of a Yogi" is touted to have introduced truth-seekers all over the world to India's age-old philosophy of Yoga and its time-honored tradition of meditation. Voight later became associated with Judaism and remains involved with the Chabad-Lubavitch movement- one of the largest Hasidic movements in Orthodox Judaism. Jon also became interested in Native American Religions with a special interest in Hopi Indian beliefs. He also has interests in Buddhism. Widely regarded as a political conservative, Voight proves himself to be an independent thinker and intellectual rebel. In this interview, Voight also mentions a religion based film project called "The Avatar." It was produced with business partner Steven Paul and released in 1990 as "Eternity."
