Patrick Swayze diagnosed with cancer
|
Hello it's Thursday, the 6 of March 2008. I'm Rebecca Field with today's UPI entertainment update. Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with a serious form of cancer. The actor's doctor says he's being treated for pancreatic cancer. The doctor added he has a "limited amount of the disease" and is apparently responding well to treatment. Swayze's rep says he's living his normal life and working on some upcoming projects. The actor is best known for his roles in "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost." Britney Spears' father is holding onto control of her finances for four more months. A Los Angeles judge ruled yesterday to extend Jamie Spears role as conservator over the pop star until July 31. That means he gets to make decisions based on her well-being and handle her estimated 100 million dollar fortune. He was originally named conservator early last month after the singer was admitted into the psychiatric ward. Matthew McConauhey is launching his very own beachwear line. The actor will soon reportedly be selling t-shirts, swim trunks, Frisbees and many other items needed for a day on the beach. It'll all be under his brand j.k livin...the same name for his production company and record label. The new line will be available this summer. Actress Bai Ling is pleading guilty to disturbing the peace. The charge comes from a arrest last month for swiping two magazines and batteries from shop at the Los Angeles airport. Ling says the incident was a mistake. She's reportedly been ordered to pay a fine and other penalties adding up to about $700. Ling is best known for her roles in "Anna and the King" and "The Crow." It was a star studded U.S. Capital yesterday for the screening of a new HBO miniseries. Tom Hanks was in Washington DC for the screening of part two of his new miniseries "John Adams." He produced the new series, based on a book by David McCullough. Hanks and McCullough even managed to snag a meeting with the Speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi while visiting the Capital. The series' star Paul Giamatti was at the screening as well along with the director Tom Hopper. The show premieres March 16. That's all for today. Tune in tomorrow for another update.
