Tracey Edmonds says wedding is coming soon
|
Hello, it's Thursday, October 18, 2007. I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update. Eddie Murphy's fiancé says their wedding date is just around the corner. Tracey Edmonds tells People magazine they'll tie the knot sometime before the end of the year and it will be someplace far away. Edmonds says the ceremony will include close friends and family...a very intimate and romantic event. Ellen DeGeneres is apparently still grieving about the recent controversy with a rescue dog. The talk show host gave an emotional apology on her daytime show on Monday for breaking the rules in the animal adoption process. DeGeneres gave a dog she adopted to her hairdresser when it didn't get along with her other animals. Apparently that's against the rules. Now the rescue organization has reportedly placed the dog in a new home, despite DeGeneres' pleas for them to return the animal to her hairdresser. Goldie Hawn is showing her support for children at risk. The actress was on capital hill in Washington DC yesterday to speak on behalf of the Children Uniting Nations program. The organization supports kids who are suffering from neglect. Hawn participated in a news conference along with several politicians and leaders. Hawn wasn't the only celebrity in the U.S. capital yesterday...several celebrities made the trip there to see a prominent spiritual leader....the Dalai Lama. Actor Richard Gere was in DC to meet with him as well as director Martin Scorsese. The Buddhist leader received the Congressional Gold medal for his efforts to promote peace and spirituality. That's the highest civilian honor awarded in the U.S. Kid Rock's new release is topping the charts. His album "Rock N Roll Jesus" is number one on the Billboard 200 chart. It's the first time the rocker has ever been in that spot. Bruce Springsteen's CD "Magic" dropped from its spot at the top last week to number two. In the third spot is the Rascal Flatts' "Still Feels Good." That's all for now. Be sure to check out a new special segment on upi.com called "Outgrowing Foster Care."
