The song was first performed at Jay-Z's "Answer the Call" benefit concert in Madison Square Garden on September 11, 2009.

The music video was filmed in November 2009. The video premiered on December 31, 2009.

The video appears in black and white, and the people, symbols, and characters in the video seem to be wearing black and white colors to coincide with the video.[6] There are split second scenes while there are somewhat of an abundance of biblical references in it. Throughout the video, there are crucifixes, angelic symbols, and often shapes of bull horns with a face in the middle which some believe is supposed to represent the baphomet. On one part of the music video when the music stops, producer Swizz Beatz is turned around, and he seemingly makes the symbol with his coat by raising his hands. All of the people in it both appear to have on black and white clothing. There is one man who seems to be perplexed, confused, and mad and he bears a strong resemblance of The Dark Knight's version of The Joker. Many people have speculated that this is Jay-Z's response to the internet controversy on YouTube and various sites about him and his patrons being conspirators with the society's of occult, and that the video is supposed to be somewhat of a mockumentary of it. There has been no response from Jay-Z thus far.
