I haven't had the urge to listen to this again, heard most of it again in my buddies car, still was not impressed.

I think many of these 2-3 ratings are extremely bias, I bet if Kanye West were the newest "underground" superstar on Quannum records he would receive a lot more love. I think everyone's coming down hard on this album because Kanye is a cocky motherfucker, and everyone seems to love him for it. I personally hate Kanye West's character, he boasts more than any human ever should, and I read an entire time article on how he's really a sweet, gentle, quiet guy in person, and then turns into a loud obnoxious motherfucker when the camera is on him. I can probably say I dis-like him more than anyone else in the industry, but I find it hard to believe that all of you really gave this album a listen.

Francis, you can't rate an album by listening to it in a friend's car, that's just un-fair to the artist who created it, you would not want an album you strived over for months, maybe even a year, to be dismissed without at least giving a decent listen.

Maybe you all really did listen, but I think there was a large bias in many people coming into this album, and I can't blame you, I had one too, I dismissed it quickly at first as well.

Upon a second more thorough listen though, I have to say I love this album, I'm not going to thoroughly break down each track, but aside from a view misses (addiction, bring me down) it's a really nice listen. Kanye is far from spectacular on the mic, always has been, but I love the production and the guest spots are faily nice.

A lot of the albums I would rate between 4 and 4.5 were albums that I heard a little bit of from a friend (for instance while riding in their car), and it hooked me. Some people might say that a really good album will pull you in from the moment you listen to it.

I totally agree, but at the same time, some albums take quite a few listens to pull you in. ATLiens and Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik sounded very un-appealing to me the first time I heard them, now they're two of my favourite albums ever.

And can you HONESTLY say, speaking from personal experience, you've never given an album a rating it didn't deserve? I can see no way this album deserves 2.5, that's piss poor, and there is no aspect of this album that's piss poor. You can't just accept a 2.5 because someone said it, I personally choose to question motives that would give a good album a terrible rating.

Technically a 2.5 is slightly below average actually. a 1 or a 0 would probably be piss poor.

Few albums receive a rating below 3 on this site, I've been around long enough to know that, and I hardly believe this is one of them. I think if everyone's being honest with themself, and I mean REALLY honest, not just saying they're being honest to back up the opinion they already stated, this album can't be below a 3.

I'm not saying people should not have their own opinions, but this music isn't extremely original or different from other music, so how can eveyone dis-like this particular album so much?

its not just that the album is nearly devoid of good songs and the kind of catchiness that kept you listening to 'college dropout', its just so dissappointing.

theres very little on this album that ill bother listening to that much. doubt ill be listening in 2 years.
