and i do believe thats what the reason for his episode was is the fact throughout the whole movie people werent calling him by his name

what paturn said...the funniest scenes...when hes fucking and hes looking at himself in the mirror, when he drops the chain saw all the way from the top on the girls head and when hes trying to feed the cat to the cash machine.

OR maybe it was all real and Ellis (author) and Mary Harron (director) were depicting the materialism of the 80s and the soulless big business type niggas that would probably do the same thing, if not worse things, that Bateman did to rise above the social ladder.

"American Psycho" is great and although when you scour the internet you find people arguing about whether it was a dream or not it quite obviously was. Nobody knows anything about what he's done and, I assume, that his journal (the one his secretary checks) depicts his thoughts and such rather than the actual acts themsevles.

It's not real. DaFoe's character must have been in Bateman's head as well because he never actually murdered anyone. It's all an illusion that suggests his psychosis rather than his psychosis being acted act through physical action.

If that were true then his secretary had to also be a figment of Bateman's imagination since Dafoe's character had to get through her to reach Bateman. And if that were true Jared Leto's character had to also be fake. If that was also true his fiance would also be fake. You see the vicious circle here?
