i wasnt really into buying one of these until i played lost planet(or galaxy i can never remember) at best buy the other week.i mainly want to get it for shooters like halo 3 and gears of war(both of which ill be kicking ass at online when i get the damn thing).but one thing has me fucked up and thats the red light of death.they say that the systems crap out from over heating or from whatever and then you have to send it back to get it fixed.this happend to anybody?also theres a rumor that premium parts are put into the elite models.if its true then the elite is the way to go and now its down to 449.so whats the deal with the 360?

I've had mine for a good while (almost a year) and it works just fine. as long as you don't buy a refurbished one, you should be fine.

same for me. My boys 360 fucked up so he sent it back and Microsoft sent him a new one.

ya my 360 got that red ring thing so i sent it in and they gave me another died again so i said fuck it and i bought an elite havent had a prob wit it yet, but they dont repair yours and give it back to you they keep yours give you someone elses broken one that they fixed to save time, cuz if they gave you back yours it would take months to repair cuz a couple of my boys xboxs broke down too

Microsoft released a newer model that's supposed to deal with the RROD issue, especially concerning overheating. I just bought one and so far, tops it has run warm thanks to having 3 air vents.

Really, I don't care for shooters. I bought it for Bully: Scholarship Edition (since I can't seem to find the Wii version anywhere) and EA Sports games. I bought Saints Row 2, but ended up getting rid of it, because I found it unplayable. The button configurations and the camera angles were uncomfortable as hell.

I must have gotten lucky, I've had the same 360 since it came out basically. I only know one other person that the red ring didn't happen to.
