lol..

i watched this the other day at 4am

"The Frozen Ghost (1945) is a mystery film starring Lon Chaney, Jr. and Evelyn Ankers, and directed by Harold Young. It is the fourth of the six "Inner Sanctum" mystery films. The "Inner Sanctum" franchise originated with a popular radio series and all of the films star Lon Chaney's son."

Plot
Chaney plays the role of Gregor the Great, a stage mentalist, who is humiliated by a drunk member of his audience. He places the man under hypnosis while feeling furious with him, and the man dies while in the trance. Gregor is then convinced that he hypnotized him to death. Gregor is ridden with guilt and takes refuge in the residential quarters of a wax museum, owned by a friend, Valerie Monet (Tala Birell). Valerie, her niece Elena Verdugo, and Gregor former stage assistant, Maura Daniel (Evelyn Ankers) pursue him romantically. Something suspicious begins to happen when Valerie mysteriously disappears.

It was cool. Chiwetel Ejiofor and company put this together pretty decently. They laid off the corn and came correct. Makes a decent DVD rental / online watch...

Just seen this as well. I liked it. Penelope Cruz is so much better when she just speaks spanish by the way.

Children of Men. I loved this movie. The camera work put a smile on my face. Blood on the camera and all that. Great. The only thing that bothered me in the movie is that the main character walked through a war zone like it was no big deal. Bullets were flying everywhere, everyone around him was dying and he just hops from one place to the other like it's nothing.

Because in a world like that hes just stopped caring if he lives or he dies.....I thought that was the whole point of the movie. So, no flaws in the movie for my money....Flawless Fluency you might say!

:D

Some movies I've seen recently:

Image
Funny, but quite moving at the same time. Fantastic cinematography also.
Image
Nice cinematography here as well, but the movie doesn't really build to anything which makes the ending feel kind of abrupt. Nevertheless a nice insight in post-Soviet Armenian society.
Image
I actually liked this more than I would've thought. Tom Hanks plays pretty fantastic.
Image
Pretty good, but not really a movie to remember. Nice landscapes though.
Image
Now this was fantastic. Hilarious and completely absurd throughout, but very enjoyable. If you want a good laugh, check this one out.
Image
This one was rather fantastic as well. Incredibly beautiful cinematography and a desolate tale. This and Earth & Ashes (Terre et Cendres) have made me love movies about Afghanistan.
Image
Another really good one. Love the music by Philip Glass as well.

In Bruges (2008)

Image

Bruges, the most well-preserved medieval city in the whole of Belgium, is a welcoming destination for travelers from all over the world. But for hit men Ray and Ken, it could be their final destination; a difficult job has resulted in the pair being ordered right before Christmas by their London boss Harry to go and cool their heels in the storybook Flemish city for a couple of weeks. Very much out of place amidst the gothic architecture, canals, and cobbled streets, the two hit men fill their days living the lives of tourists. Ray, still haunted by the bloodshed in London, hates the place, while Ken, even as he keeps a fatherly eye on Ray's often profanely funny exploits, finds his mind and soul being expanded by the beauty and serenity of the city. But the longer they stay waiting for Harry's call, the more surreal their experience becomes, as they find themselves in weird encounters with locals, tourists, violent medieval art, a dwarf American actor shooting a European art film, Dutch prostitutes, and a potential romance for Ray in the form of Chloë, who may have some dark secrets of her own. And when the call from Harry does finally come, Ken and Ray's vacation becomes a life-and-death struggle of darkly comic proportions and surprisingly emotional consequences.

I love it when I'm unexpectedly surprised in how good a movie is. Especially if you've never heard of the movie, never remember any previews or any buzz about it. This is a kick ass movie. I'm not that big a fan of Colin Farell, but i think iam now. He was absolutely hilarious in this flick. I wanted to see more Ralph Fiennes (He's one of my favorite actors), because his character is very interesting. Focus Features always puts out quality films, so i most definitely recommend this one. If you Netflix, please add to you queue.

This was quite good. Nice story, shot quite beautifully.

Pleasantly surprised with this one, though I had already heard good things about it. Very convincing too, much more than V for Vendetta which I found way more unrealistic (but a good movie in it's own right).

That's right, I watched it from beginning to end and somehow managed to resist the constant urge to implant any random sharp object i could find into my eyes. Needless to say, it was horrible. Why did I watch it in it's entirety? I'm still not quite sure myself. There are a couple of theories I won't go into right now. Superb soundtrack though.

You just fell to an all time low!!

Jindabyne (2006)

Image

An Irishman living in the Australian town of Jindabyne, is on a fishing trip in isolated hill country with three other men when they discover the body of a murdered girl in the river

This isnt the type of movie you would watch more than once, but its worth a look. It deals with human emotion, and decision making and its outcome. A flick that makes you think.

4/6

The Barbarian Invasions (2003)

Image

Having a difficult time accepting the reality of death and feeling regretful of his past, a man dying of cancer tries to find peace in his last moments. His estranged son, ex-wife, ex-lovers and old friends will all come to him to share his last breath.

This movie is completely in subtitles (I enjoy subtitles, keeps your attention), but its a really good story about a man coming to terms. The other big detail is that the man on his death bed injects heroin throughout the movie, which puts him at ease. Pretty interesting flick.

5/6

Blood Simple (1984)

Image

A bar-owner in Texas is certain that his wife is cheating on him and hires a private detective to spy on her. This is just the beginning of a complex plot which is full of misunderstandings and deceit.

This is where it all started for the Cohen brothers and Frances McDormand. Classic flick.

6/6
