means nothin' , I first made my debut in amman, jordan 1998 with a live performance at books@cafe..... jordan being a country in which the main hiphop artist (some radio personality) had a song that didn't rhyme at all and he did it to a beat that was called " funky cold madina" which alot of you may know....... this at the time was my only competition... which really wasn't ...but i came with many songs that were combined with down to earth subject matter and political veiws of what many would consider to be the underdog's perspective. .. in which people of all cultures and communities would understand... so i built hiphop in jordan... and did not let it head in the direction that it would of normally went into.... hearing me freestyle in a music store , wheelz- a english channel radio host talked about me on his show.(saying that i was the best mc he ever heard live).. hearing this particular was some female who called herself Dessert queen,, she called up the radio station and asked wheelz how could she set up a battle with me and her live on air.... so the people at the music store recieved a called from this female whom had got the number from wheelz,, she left a message telling me to call a number , so i called and it was the radio station asking me if i accepted her battle on air... which i knew nothing of... and so i did it.... and the public took time to call in and vote.... the outcome was 16 me 3 her........ they then called me back after the poll and had a short interview with me , in which i announced my next gig at amra hotel in the Zee club with my best friend and partner Zee... the outcome of that... was 900 people showed up to see me...... and also that night i got a deal offering for an international distribution deal with bbc records for only 5%..... ofcourse i did not take it.. but at the same time they game a generous offer to perform with one of there upcoming groups who were native to jordan..... i did agree to do the song,,, however due to circumstances i didn't . Later down the line i was requested by the number one radio host.... synthia.. who put me and zee on a show called "star riders" with a half an hour interview and playing five of our radio edited songs........ we were booked for 75% of the summer making anywhere from 200.00 - 500.00 jds a night..... which equals 300.00 to 1,000.00 a peice. lifestyles were crazy expensive ..even though it takes like 150 to pay for a really good apartment over there for a whole month.. and we rented limo's on occasion, ,,,,,, did alot of parties.... concerts.... we were featured in almost every big event that took place to do with music...... And all i knew were regular people ...... no celebs ...no big shots.... if you are as good as you claim to be ,,, the market is open.... if not ....... you will depend on who you know? another point to add to this is that at that age i was living a pretty fast life and i left all in hopes to return to america and sign a deal with a company that would be fitting for my image... and also to maintain my integrity..... my first choice was rawkus which upon the time of my return when i was about to send them my album... they went bankrupt.... and so i tried for something a little bit different... which was fatbeats...... and they refused me..... who i knew never helped or hurt me... it was always about my drive and confidence..... after refusal from fat beats i just stopped having the drive ..... and life also draws alot of obsticles which we have to deal with..and may be more important than persuing a music career.. plus i feel like there are many other feilds which prove just as profitable, if not even better... i hope this lets you figure out somethings..... cause relying on a 13 year old to make you famous ....... is just plain pitifull

You can't let one record company shut you down. There are plenty of companies you can go through. You could start with a larger independent, which shit, Rhymesayers is probably gonna be the next Rawkus now they got Mac Lethal and Brother Ali. Hit those mofos up. Then keep doing your thing and start down the list again when you elevate more. It may just be a case of finding your target audience and which record company can help you spread your reach. And if all else fails, all it takes is an internet connection, a cell phone, and some know how to set up your own damn tour. Hop on a local stage ride with a large tour, you don't have to be signed to get your name out. Then, that will make you more likely to get that deal, if that's your goal. I've had a few of my boys arrange their own tours, and go on Warped, Liquid Mix, etc. Maybe you need to get down with someone to feed off their inspiration. Anyways, good luck, don't stop the grind.

Alot of us grew up poor and hustling, man. Street smarts are much more useful in life. A degree doesn't get you much these days unless you take it all the way to the end or unless you know people who will just happen to pull your file when that agency/company is hiring. You gotta have a foot in the door. I have 3 friends with engineering degrees, two of them sell cars, one of them works on cars. I have an engineering degree, I do home theater installation.

It all comes down to your drive and what you want from this. I differ from yall a bit. I'm a little more selfish because I don't have a family, I guess. But If I was given the chance to go on tour and I knew that I wouldn't make any profit from it, I'd still go because that's what I starve for and keeps my mind right. I'd drop my job in an instant to come back homeless, climb back up, and repeat the process. If I can get support along the way, that would be awesome, but I'm just gonna do my thing til I'm incapable. You should too, but in your way. Yeah, you got your family, but shit, even if it takes you 3 years to drop an album, putting in groundwork on your downtime which is probably limited. By all means, drop that shit, and rock brains.

I had a similar upbringing, I was raised in hiphop because of my cousin who was 7 years older than me, and I grew up in his shadow. He's gone now, heroine got him, R.I.P, but he's who made me who I am today. Put it like this, I was the only 10 year old waiting in line for 36 Chambers when that shit came out. haha.
