The Stanford Prison Experiments. The first time I read this, I was so intrigued, I ended up spending all day reading more on it, reading excerpts from some of the books written about it, watching videos on youtube and google, etc. Really interesting stuff.

Check the link to the Milgram Experiment too in the first paragraph.
