The Day of the Jackal (1973)

A professional assassin codenamed "Jackal" plots to kill Charles de Gaulle, the President of France.

Good movie, but will soon be forgotten I think..

Strangers on a Train (1951)

It begins with the shriek of a train whistle and ends with shrieking excitement! Young America's idol - a good looking stranger in search of sensation - and a girl in love. These are the people around whom Alfred Hitchcock spins his wonderful new web of suspense and surprise.

Great movie, looking forward to my next meeting with Hitchcock..

5+/6

Image

Grizzly Man (2005)

A devastating and heartrending take on grizzly bear activists Timothy Treadwell and Amie Huguenard, who were killed in October of 2003 while living among grizzlies in Alaska.

This was not what I was expecting at all, somebody was in need for help, and I'm not talking about the bears..

4+/6

This Is England (2006)

A story about a troubled boy growing up in England, set in 1983. He comes across a few skinheads on his way home from school, after a fight. They become his new best friends even like family. Based on experiences of director Shane Meadows.

Very interesting piece of movie.. A mixture of American History X & Kids..

Yeah, the ending in Mysterious Skin was pretty twisted.

You're not really in any position to comment on other people's tastes in movies when you watch all these crappy, mediocre movies like Ravenswood!!

Look they were the same lists.....fave feel-good movies....so pipe down.....and anyone puts Bill and Ted's BOGUS Journey has crappy taste in movies (in my opinion)....we dont need a "dvd call out" you've already lost hun!!

:D

About a priest who helps motivate ex-cons into self improvement. Only one turns out to be the ultimate test of his faith. I found this to be both hilarious and moving. I recommend.

we got digital teevee about 4 months ago and for a short but wonderful period of time, we got all 3 movie channels we recieve here for free. I saw this film on a rainy afternoon and liked it very much.

I saw this film as 'c'est arrivé près de chez vous', but apparently it also exists under an english title:

Image

A camera crew follows a serial killer/thief around as he exercises his craft. He expounds on art, music, nature, society, and life as he offs mailmen, pensioners, and random people. Slowly he begins involving the camera crew in his activities, and they begin wondering if what they're doing is such a good idea, particularly when the killer kills a rival and the rival's brother sends a threatening letter.

I loved it for its cruel humor, its look on reality and its contrasts.

Saw another danish movie yesterday, GREAT!!

Image

Grønne slagtere, De (2003)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0342492/

Svend and Bjarne work for a butcher in a small Danish town. Fed up with their boss' arrogance, they decide to start their own butcher shop. After dismal beginnings, an unfortunate accident happens which coincides with a large order of meat. One hasty decision leads to another and soon the business thrives. In the meantime, Bjarne has to deal with his twin brother who has been in coma for years following a gruesome car accident.

Haha, funny and bizarre movie.. Danish movies is almost always interesting.. The two slaughters kills it, with great chemistry between them,,

Into the Wild (2007)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758758/

This hit me in the gut, and it felt good. Must be one of the most inspirational films I've ever seen, LOVED IT. And is now, one of my personal favourites. Goldstar in MY book=)

"After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life"

Hot Fuzz

Image

Jealous colleagues conspire to get a top London cop transferred to a small town and paired with a witless new partner. On the beat, the pair stumble upon a series of suspicious accidents and events.

This was much better than I expected. It really had me laughing at times. Two thumbs up!
