Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449059/

A family determined to get their young daughter into the finals of a beauty pageant take a cross-country trip in their VW bus.

Suprisingly enough an extreme dose of fresh air, great movie, beautiful, funny and kind of tricky.. Was kind of skeptical when I saw the man from "Bruce Almighty" & the other "Almighty" movie, but the whole movie was just a really good one.. Kind of satire about the "regular" family life..

In the Valley of Elah (2007)

A career officer and his wife work with a police detective to uncover the truth behind their son's disappearance following his return from a tour of duty in Iraq.

Facinating story about people in the search of the truth, old feelings is growling for the old veteran. And you'll get to feel the emotions around the subject of war and its losses, both physical and mental..

Short Eyes (1977)

Image

A young man who is charged with child molestation is placed in New York City's infamous "Tombs" jail system. When the other inmates in his cell block find out what he is charged with, life becomes extremely difficult for him.

This is a classic jail flick with tons of memorable quotables that have been used on albums of artists such as Wu-Tang & Lord Jamar. This movie was ahead of its time.

Everything is subtitled over here :afro:

And actually that's a good thing. I hate how in Germany, Spain, Italy, ... they dub movies. Horrible!

Session 9 (2001)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0261983/

Tensions rise within an asbestos cleaning crew as they work in an abandoned mental hospital with a horrific past that seems to be coming back.

Strangely made, but pretty much like most other movies with that^^ plot.. Seen it before, althou it tricked me.. Not very good, but it was ok..

Capturing the Friedmans (2003)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0342172/

Documentary on the Friedmans, a seemingly typical, upper-middleclass Jewish family whose world is instantly transformed when the father and his youngest son are arrested and charged with shocking and horrible crimes.

Great documentary about the family Friedmans, that suddenly found themselves in a very unreal situation. I don't wanna say what it looked like, but this got my mind spinning, no doubt.. Trying to understand a way these can be, and also how it can't be.. Can find both.. Distrubingly good..

Carne (1991)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0218871/

This is the short film(40 min) about the life of the butcher before the movie "I Stand Alone" - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0157016/ , and shows how this man got his feelings growing up inside him.. Good one, and makes me appreciate the other one more to. It goes for your guts!

Rad, Das (2003)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330801/

Apparently, rocks are having conversations all around us, but they talk very, very slowly.

Wow, I've found this short film very fascinating.. Should be just a little longer thou=) Good one,

5/6

Tsotsi (2005)

http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0468565/

In Johannesburg, the small time criminal Tsotsi is a teenager without feelings, hardened by his tough life.

Incredible movie about this boy/teenagers life and it's interesting to see how his minds reflex a sudden change in his life.. Great one..

5-/6

Image

Down by Law (1986)

http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0090967/

The story of three different men in a Louisiana prison and their eventual journey.

Wow, why haven't I've seen this before??(!!!) Almost perfect..

6-/6

Image

Elephant (2003)

Several ordinary high school students go through their daily routine as two others prepare for something more malevolent.

This movie placed me among the others.. Gus Van Sant makes it as good as it gets when it comes to the matter of this movie..

5/6

Image

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)

http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0292963/

Needing extra cash, two brothers conspire to pull off the perfect, victimless crime. No guns, no violence, no problem. But when an accomplice ignores the rules and crosses the line, his actions trigger a series of events in which no one is left unscathed.

Fairly good movie, but I think'll only remember the fathers role in this story. Philip Seymour Hoffman does another good role, and the whole movie is quite good..

4+/6

Ok, I can try to explan how I saw this, the visuals made the films very intense.. It puts you inside of the people in it.. Althou not much dialog, Gus Van Sant(the director) just makes this real realistic with the music/scenes.. The way with long scenes with the music, makes you wonder what's going on, and I sort of make my own opinon of what the character is thinking.. And think he told me a good story without saying much, althou it's prett obvious he critize the way school handles the troubles for a young person that don't fit in, but come to think of it.. I would give it 4+ now.. It was just that've just finished looking at it, when i made it "5/6".. The same director as Paranoid Park, that I did not like, but Elephant changed my opinion of what I've should expect from Paranoid Park, and maybe I've should watch it again..

Wow, I cant believe you didnt like Paranoid Park , I definitely preferred PP to Elephant. I guess maybe its just because I never went to an american highschool?! And so I just cant relate to the subject matter as I can with Paranoid Park. But, to others here in the forum I strongly recommend you make you go see Paranoid Park and make your own judgements on it!

i'm sorry but anyone that tells me Before the Devil knows you're dead is a good film needs to be smacked across the head with the dvd. That film was rubbish, the most memorable thing about the whole thing was the chick getting banged in the start ....Tomei, everything else was pointless, idiotic, the characters had little chemistry...am i really supposed to believe those two were brothers? one was like some bumbling idiot that just fucked up so much i was wondering why he didnt just pop himself if he felt so guilty, the other was perverted cupid on crack (Hoffman is a great actor, even in this crappy film but the writing on this film just made me hate him as an actor..like why would you say you wanna par take in something so shitty) this is all told through some shitty misplaced time line, which isnt original or even well handled.

at the end of the film i was thinking, wait what the fucking hell was the point of this shit? I just couldnt believe i was watching a film made by Sidney Lumet...who is one of the greatest directors ever born.... cos it was complete garbage and anyone who says other wise needs to tell me what fucking spacedust they are smoking.

people need to get off their high horses and face the truth, a great director made a really crappy film here.
