My parents know next to nothing about music. My mom's a fan of Kenny G and my dad sings along to George Strait, so needless to say my childhood was pretty much musically void. :(

Blondie - "Call Me" was the first memorable song I remember my bro and sis playing. Still sounds good today:

birth to fourth grade...pop shit mostly madonna alot due to sisters...MC Hammer...Sir Mix Alot...Vanilla Ice...Scorpions was the first CD i owned...my brother listened to alot of rush among other shit...

in fifth grade a kid i knew was into cypress hill and west coast gangsta ish and realy introduced me too it...however...

when i got too middele school i fell into alternative rock shit...Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, STP, Tool etc. ...Also my uncle got me into classical shit...Jimi Hendrix, Led Zep, Beatles, all the greats...along with this my brother got into the west coast shit...Snoop, Eazy E., Dre and the such...but by eighth grade i was full into rock...I even sang "This Love" by Pantera in the talent show...I maintaned this for most of my Freshman year...

Then in highschool i was intrigued by triumph on MTV...i had bought some other "weed essentials" in middle school like E 1999 Eternal and shit but Wu Tang Forever is held alot closer to my heart...so i bumped that shit...then a friend endtroduced me to DJ Shadow so i got into the whole quannum crew...Someone else intro'd me to Atmosphere so i started searching that vein...basically thats how i'm shaped nowadays straying away from the good at the time to the actual good (at this time :-? )...also i have been digging back to the roots of hiphop music...trying to expand my collection of old hiphop...while keeping up wit da new hatness...

You mean Raphael Saadiq? He's from the group "Tony! Toni! Tone!" ("Feels Good" is a classic tune by them btw!)

Yes, the three members from Bell Biv Devoe (Ricky Bell, Michael Bivens and Ronnie Devoe) were from New Edition... in fact, before their "Poison" album came out nobody expected them to do as well as they did because they were the "least talented" of New Edition vocally but they're the pioneers of what's common today with the hip hop/r&b combo. Best tracks (that still sound good today, the rest is crap) by them were "Poison" and "Do Me!"

I liked that jam, Poison. Damn, Tony! Toni! Tone! I guess that would be the group that I thought of. Hahaha don't know how I confused the two but I remember Raphael Saadiq being there. Good looking on that.
