Have you listened to Dustin Kensrue's solo album. Way different from thrice but still really good, check it out if you haven't.

No man, i don't think we will see another tool album in awhile...Maynard dropped his solo project awhile ago...it is different but some of it is notable...Pusifer is the projects name, so check that out...i think they are all pretty much working on various side projects, i know danny carey is still playing with pygmy love circus (i could never get into them)...not sure what adam jones is working on. I would say at least two more years before they even consider doing another album.

Yeah, I don't think Tool will drop a new one very soon, seeing as they take notoriously long to finish albums... I don't really like any of the Tool sideprojects aside from A Perfect Circle, Puscifer was rather stupid if you ask me, though the music was alright from time to time.

And word up, both them Thrice albums were great (not sure if they're the best of 2008 however). I just hope they're gonna do something more integrated on a next album, as in taking all the styles they did on these albums and make it one unified style. The problem with the Alchemy Index is that it doesn't really feel very cohesive and that it hasn't got many continuity throughout. Fantastic individual songs though.

I agree with that. If it held tighter to the concept i think it could have been epic...some of the songs seemed out of place on their respective elements and on the albums as a whole.

This is an excellent album of 2008

My personal favorite:

The Gossip - Live In Liverpool.

Others I like:

MGMT - Time To Pretend
The Raconteurs - Consolers Of The Lonely
Adele - 19
Santogold - Santogold
The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing
...

Maybe this is a bit of a long shot, but has anyone heard Beck's new album? I like his new song Gamma Ray.

Anti-Flag - Bright lights of America.
That cd is fantastic.

Portishead - Third is a close second.

This one is great too, at least if you can get over the vocals:

There are rumors that supposedly have been confirmed by Blair, i looked on toolband and couldn't find where but they are working on a new album currently. Which tool fans know could be 2-6 years before they actually hear it.
