-the great gatsby: baisicall talks abouts the "american dream"
-The trial: talks about the "injust" of the government! corruption..
-Things fall apart: also one of my fav. book. people are focused to believe on somethin that they don't want to.. great book. worth reading..
-Animal Farm: animals here play the role of humans.. which animal has the "control" . read to find out.

Awesome books. If you like African literature you should also check out:

Beloved - Toni Morrison
The Famished Road - Ben Okri
The Smell Of Apples - Mark Behr

and, if you loved The Great Gatsby, check out:

Death Of A Salesman - Arthur Miller

Ultimately, I think a good book is defined by its ability to inspire and implant purpose, whether good or bad; it ushers one in a direction. And with that being said, THE BIG PICTURE by Ben Carson. :xreadpb:

Personal Favourites:

1.Mika Waltari - The Egyptian
A Finnish writer in the 50's writes an epic book about an egyptian who lived 4000 years earlier. This book is Life

2.F.D. Dostoyevski - Crime And Punishment
The deepest cut into human nature I've ever read. The oldest story in the world is still the freshest cut

3. Ernest Hemingay - ...And The Sun Rises
A Strange fruit in Hemingway's cataloque. The machismo is there but there's a world-weariness in this thats unique. Plus its the definite book for alcoholics

I'm into Russian writers in general. Especially Dostoyevski and Gogol and Pelevin out of modern writers.

I'm always reading my Bible and other expository commentary that helps me gain a better understanding of it. I'm also reading What's So Different, it's a brief look at religions and how they differ from one another.

Currently reading "News of a Kidnapping" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez... love the writing...

recently read...
"The Motorcycle Diaries" Che Guevara...
"A Suitable Boy" Vikram Seth... couldn't finish it though... too long
"White Mughals" William Dalrymple... loved his "City of Djinns"...
"Girl, Interrupted" Susanna Kaysen... never saw the movie, damn simple reading and it definitely kept my interest.

Want to read..
Salman Rushdie's "Satanic Verses", want to judge what the fuss is all about, fatwa and all...
"The God of Small Things" Arundhati Roy
"The Honourable Schoolboy" John Le Carre
"Love in the Time of Cholera" Gabriel Garcia Marquez... i think he's brilliant!

and, for anyone who wants a clear understanding of Africa post-apartheid, read the harrowing but tremendous, 'Country of my Skull'
