not just playing it this year, i cannot find it anymore.. nor my nes for that matter. However, this is by far my favorite video game of all time. The game was so damn odd at the time, and weird in its layout that I got obsessed with playing it when it came out. I originally played it on a Commador 128, and that version is by far more explicit then the NES version (which is more family oriented.. or something,) so the Commodore version is the actual reccomendation. However, it is very doubtful to come across it these days, or a Commodore that still works (as everyone is well aware.) So for that reason, I suggest the NES version.
In all of its weirdness, I have never been sucked into a video game the same way as I had with that one since.
