For some time, Noisia has been one outfit that has gotten crazy acclaim within the DnB genre, as well as touching down into other fields with their production wizardry. The time is right for them to make sharper forrays into the mainstream: Noisia was selected to take on ''Alice'', from Moby's forthcoming Last Night, and have their way with it in a DnB frame. And boy do they keep it nasty! Their remix of ''Alice'' builds with a chilled Hip-Hop feel in the intro, underscoring some sung and rapped vocals, building that intensity into a monstrous piece of dancefloor funk, very big and very tough, complete with tight drums and some sly vocal edits to boot.

This remix will be released on both CD single and vinyl, and is accompanied by the original album mix, a General Midi breakbeat mix and the Lime-Heavy Bass remix! This will be out on Mute (cat. number 12MUTE380) on 17th March 2008.

The Echo Location crew did a little Q&A with Noisia about this, here’s the transcript from that talk:

Echo Location: How did this remix come about?

Noisia: Quite simple, they heard our music and thought we'd be suitable to give our perspective on the possibilities the elements in the original have.

EL: Were you fans of Moby's previous work?

Noisia: We haven't really kept up, but he's done some really good tunes in the past, especially in his blues period.

EL: Had Moby heard your music? Did he give you free range to do what you wanted with 'Alice'?

Noisia: Well they wanted a drum n bass remix, so we couldn't just do anything we wanted. But yes they told us go out and have fun with the tune, do what you do, that's why we want you on it.

EL: The outcome is certainly getting a lot of praise in the drum n bass community. Were you conscious about keeping your sound for the fans or were you tempted to water it down a little to make it more accessible to the wider audience who will hear it?

Noisia: We just felt that this was the best we could do on the vibe of the original. The lyrics are about losing control in a weird world that seems not be real so it called on us for some aggressive beats.

EL: Can we expect to see Noisia remixing any more mainstream artists in the future?

Noisia: If a good opportunity arises we won't say no!

Audio for Noisia's remix of ''Alice'' by Moby can be heard on their MySpace page.
