Knocking Out My Boldest Opponent spells KOMBO, the solo artist who bombed on the world with his first single "Pop Shit". A member of the S.O.L.A.R. Panel, Kombo has been a part of the Hip Hop scene for nearly ten years. His first song on record was "Vocal Instrument" which he recorded as a part of the group Sons of the V.I. with his brother AJ (The Solution) and cousin Diffa (Divine Universal) from the compilation The Next Chapter. After Sons of the VI broke up, Kombo moved forward as a solo artist to create his first single "I Don't Stop b/w Pop Shit", and the B-side (produced by DJ Khalil of Self Scientific) began to make noise on the underground scene. "Pop Shit" proved Kombo's ability to share the spotlight with other MCs, as he and Unspoken Heard flipped back and forth styles to rival any of Hip Hop's legendary duos. Recently, Kombo linked up with Mums the Word and Concentrated Entertainment to create "Godbound" for the Connect the Dots compilation (Nu Gruv) which is currently in stores on CD and vinyl. The next single from Kombo will be available during Spring 2000 and is titled "New Horizons b/w The Bulletin". New Horizons is produced by Grap Luva, Pete Rock's brother, and Grap is also a featured MC on this track. In addition to working with Grap Luva and DJ Khalil, Kombo's upcoming EP and full-length release will also include production from Mums the Word and Geology. Rumor has it that Kombo may be working with A-Plus of Souls of Mischief / Hieroglyphics as well!
