In an interview with "Access Hollywood," Nicole Richie says her pregnancy has stirred a desire to bond with her biological mother and get even closer to the man who adopted her as a baby, Lionel Richie.
"When I found out that I was pregnant," she tells Access Hollywood's Billy Bush, "there was just something inside of me that felt a responsibility to mend any issues that I've had with my parents in the past, because, listen, I've put them through a lot."
The 25-year-old former star of "The Simple Life" says she has also spent time bonding with the mother of her boyfriend, rocker Joel Madden.
As for Nicole's own famous dad, "[The baby] is all he talks about, actually," Richie jokes, adding that he doesn't want the baby to call him "grandpa."
Nicole Richie may have received a lot of blue baby shower gifts last month, but she insists that the sex of the child is still a mystery, thanks to Joel.
"I like to know everything," she says, "If he wasn't at every doctor's appointment, I probably would have found out by now just behind his back and not told him."
Despite the baby's scheduled arrival in two months, Richie says she has no plans to get married to Joel anytime soon.
"I got to hold something for when I get older," she says, "I can't have everything happen in one year."
