Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea was one the people hit hard this weekend when a fire ripped through Malibu for the second time in just over a month. Flea's $4.8 million home "burnt to a crisp" according to a text message the bassist sent out. His was one of the 49 homes lost in the area in the blaze as of 5:00 PM PST Sunday night.

"So far 4,650 acres burned in the fire which has been determined to have been caused by humans. Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Rick Dominguez says that the fire broke out Saturday morning along a dirt road off a paved highway, and that investigators are still deciding if it was started intentionally," according to Salem-News.com.

The LA Times report: Michael Balzary, a.k.a. Flea, had purchased a home for more than $10 million in Malibu last year, but the house that burned was another he owned in the hills west of Corral Canyon. That French country-style home is listed for sale for $4.8 million on the website of real estate firm Pritchett-Rapf & Associates.
