*Chris Rock's wife was the brief victim of Internet rumors Wednesday after Media Take Out had reported that she was driving a car when her side mirror sideswiped a traffic officer's hand.

The Web site quoted a "faithful reader" who claimed to have witnessed Mrs. Compton-Rock's side mirror make such a collision that the female officer's hand was injured and the side mirror actually broke.

Meanwhile, TMZ.com later reported that the accident never happened.

TMZ's account is as follows: "Around 10 a.m. this morning, Mrs. Rock was at the intersection of Canal and Bowery in Manhattan. Malaak was given a summons for failing to comply with a lawful order, because a traffic officer on foot directed her to go straight and she instead made a right turn. It was a minor incident and there was no confrontation. Don't believe everything you read, folks."

Media Take Out posted the following at the end of its story: "Despite reports from other sites, we stand by our report."
