LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Fred Ross, the father of iconic U.S. singer Diana Ross, has died at the age of 87, it was reported Wednesday.

A representative for the singer said Fred Ross died peacefully at his home Tuesday, "Access Hollywood" reported.

"He touched many lives and he will be truly missed. I love him very much," Diana Ross said in a statement issued to the entertainment news program.
