Richard “Professor Griff” Griffin, a co-founding member of Public Enemy will be in Dallas, TX tomorrow and Friday to discuss hip-hop culture and join in the debate over sagging pants. Dallas Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway and school board member Ron Price are coordinating the Thursday event, a free teen summit at Lincoln High School. Just over a month ago the city posted billboards to launch their “Pullem’ [sic] Up” campaign to curtail the fashion trend. A year ago, attempts to enforce a fine for sagging pants stalled.
Friday, Griffin will be at Erykah Badu’s famed Black Forest Theater in Dallas for a community forum, “Hip Hop Culture: What’s Right. What’s Wrong.” Both events begin at 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.DallasNews.com.
