Leona Lewis will claim the fastest selling UK album of all time if current sales figures continue.
The former X-Factor winner looks set to beat the current first week figure of 363,735 held by the Arctic Monkeys with their debut album, ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.’
Lewis debut album, ‘Spirit,’ sold an estimated 100,000 copies on it’s opening day yesterday (November 12th), according to industry analysts.
The album is currently outselling the Spice Girls, ‘Greatest Hits,’ by four copies to one.
Meanwhile, this week’s other big release, Led Zeppelin’s retrospective, ‘Mothership,’ is currently the forth biggest seller behind Celine Dion.
HMV's Gennaro Castaldo told AP: "Leona's success is all the more remarkable as this is a huge week for Christmas releases, with heavyweight albums from the likes of the Spice Girls, Led Zeppelin and Celine Dion.”
He added: "Who could have predicted Leona would have come back from her year away in such dramatic style - that's' some superstar makeover she's been through!"
