Kanye West is among the stars nominated at the first J.A.M awards, set up to honour murdered Run DMC star Jam Master Jay.

Kanye, Nelly and Wyclef Jean are nominated for the Music award at the ceremony which takes place on November 29 on New York.

The J.A.M awards recognise outstanding efforts in promoting social justice, arts and music.

Chuck D, Dr Cornell West and Smith are nominated for the Justice award.

While Lee, Robert L. Johnston and Lee Quinones are nominated in the Arts category.

Jam Master Jay, real name Jason Mizell, was shot in October 2002.
