When Busta Rhymes, Remy Ma, Lil' Wayne and Ja Rule were mobbed by reporters Wednesday (Nov. 7) in Manhattan, it wasn't because they were arriving an event. In what Remy Ma described as a coincidence, all four rappers appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court within hours of each other. All four briefly appeared before their respective judges to answer to several different charges. The first to appear was Busta Rhymes, who was answering to several charges, including two misdemeanor assaults, drunk driving and driving with a suspended license. Rhymes, born Trevor Smith, was scheduled to begin his trial on Wednesday, however it was pushed back until January 23. According to Rhymes' attorney, Scott Leemon, Judge Larry Stephen decided that he needed more time to review a request made by the defense. Remy Ma was the next to arrive to face an attempted murder charge. As previously reported, Remy, whose real name is Remy Smith, is charged with shooting an acquaintance outside a New York nightclub. Her attorney, Ivan Fisher, told The New York Daily News that his client's appearance lasted only three minutes because the presiding judge had not yet received a prosecutor's filings and could not rule on several motions. Remy's next court date was set for December 5. Next up were Ja Rule and Lil' Wayne. Though both arrived separately, they were represented by the same attorney, Stacey Richman. Both rappers were arrested within hours of each other in July after performing together at a concert in Manhattan. Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, and Ja Rule, born Jeffrey Atkins, were both arrested and charged with felony gun possesion. Their attorney insists that in both cases, neither of the guns recovered belonged to either of her clients. Both are due back in court on February 25.
