Brief News On J Dilla, Immortal Technique And American Gangster

Stones Throw Records, label home to Madvillian, Madlib and the late J. Dilla, will be releasing a DVD titled In Living The True God.

According to Drowned In Sound.com , the DVD will include videos and performance footage from the aforementioned artists and other acts on the Stone Throw roster,  which include Dudley Perkins, Quasimoto,  Lootpack, MED and Roc C, among others.

The DVD will also include a 2003 J Dilla interview. A release date for the project has not been determined.


FOR THE CAUSE

Immortal Technique will be performing  a benefit show for the Jena 6 in New York next month.

The concert will take place at Lehman College in the Bronx on November 1st from 6pm-9pm at the Lovinger Theater.

"This is a benefit show with all proceeds going towards the legal defense fund for the Jena 6," Technique said in a statement. "It is important to rally and march but it is equally, if not more important, to speak by enforcing the necessary channels for legal action."

THE REAL DEAL


Former Manhattan drug- kingpin Frank Lucas will be giving his first ever TV interview on an upcom ing episode of BET's American Gangster.

Lucas is the focus of an upcoming movie also titled American Gangster , which stars Denzel Washington portraying him. Lucas smuggled heroin  into the United States in the 70's via coffins of dead soldiers returning from Vietnam. At his zenith, Lucas  reportedly  made $1 million a day selling heroin.

Lucas' interview with BET's American Gangster will air on Wednesday,(October 31).

American Gangster , the movie ,will open in theatres on November 2nd . The flick also stars  T.I. , Common , Cuba Gooding  Jr.,  Idris Elba , Russell Crowe and Wu-Tang's RZA.

The movie inspired Jay-Z's upcoming album which is also shares the same title and drops November 6
