A Tribe Called Quest

VH1's fourth annual Hip-Hop Honors ceremony took place at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom on Thursday night (October 4), and while it was star-studded, the legendary A Tribe Called Quest stole the show.

Granted they were they main honoree, A Tribe Called Quest (which was four members strong again with Jarobi back in the mix) closed out the show with an all-star tribute to their hometown of Queens with Common, Pharrell, Lupe Fiasco and Busta Rhymes (clad in a Leaders of the New School-era fluorescent pink and green jacket and hat) all performing classics from the group's catalog.

Common kicked off the set with the group's first ever single, "Bonita Applebaum," while Pharrell and Lupe then traded verses on "Electric Relaxation." Busta helped out for the track, "Scenario," which helped the rapper launch his solo career in the early 90s.

And, capping the night off was the original ATCQ members (with Jarobi and Consequence in tow) performing "Check The Rime" and "Award Tour."

R&B was also repped by a tribute to Teddy Riley, Uptown Records founder Andre Harrell, who is responsible for giving Diddy his start as an intern whose marriage of hip-hop and R&B was an extension of the trend Riley previously kicked off.

Ne-Yo and Keyshia Cole performed the Riley-produced Michael Jackson hit "Remember the Time," and then T-Pain went from rapper-turned-singer to TR impersonator, as he performed Guy's "I Want Her."

Riley then reunited with Blackstreet member, Chauncey Black, as the pair hit the stage briefly for a performance of the group's hit single, "No Diggity."

Others honored include Snoop Dogg, with T.I. and B.G. performing "Deep Cover," Ice-T performing "Gin N Juice" and Snoop himself taking the stage with Bow Wow to perform "Who Am I (What's My Name)?"; while a Missy Elliott tribute was put together by Eve and Keyshia Cole performing "Hot Boyz."

Whodini and "Wild Style" director Charlie Ahearn and Fab 5 Freddy were also honored.
