Chicago Rap star Twista has been cut from McDonald's live 10-city tour featuring performances in McDonald's parking lots across the United States.
Twista was announced as one of the headliners of the free McDonald's Live tour, which features performances from Ne-Yo, Kenna, Kat DeLuna, the Dey, Single File and Kevin Michael in various markets.
The rapper was cancelled as the headlining act for the August 7 date on the tour due to his lyrical content, McDonald's announced yesterday (July 28).
"McDonald's USA made the decision following concerns raised about the artist's controversial lyrics," McDonald's said in a statement. "Although we respect free speech and artistic expression, we do not condone or perpetuate derogatory language."
The restaurant giant now seeks a headlining act to replace Twista on the August 7 date in Chicago.
The McDonald's Live Tour wraps Sept. 25 in Austin, Texas and is expected to draw thousands at each show.
