Rapper LL Cool J has lashed out at his record label's boss. Def Jam, LL's record label, is run by fellow rap artist Jay-Z who this month relaunched his own recording career.
LL Cool J's claim is that his recent album 'Todd Smith' was not promoted adequately due to Jay-z concentrating on writing and recording on his own projects.
The rapper said: "How am I gonna re-sign with competition? I'm not an idiot. I can't depend on that man to promote my record while he's somewhere writing rhymes. I'm LL Cool J. I ain't doing that."
Even though LL Cool J, real name James Todd Smith III, has recorded and released eleven studio albums on the Def Jam label it appears that the forthcoming album will be his last on the label he has been with since 1985.
