Jamal Shyne Barrow's first CD since going to prison is expected to own next week's Billboard Top 200 Album chart, the New York Post reported Monday.
Titled Godfather Buried Alive, it is Shyne's second album overall, and his first since he struck a deal with Island Records said to be worth $3 million.
The rapper's imprisonment stems from an infamous 1999 shooting at a Manhattan club involving Sean P. Diddy Combs and his then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez. While Shyne could have gone down for attempted murder, he was found guilty of five charges including assault, reckless endangerment and weapons possession.
Shyne isn't up for parole until early 2009. But he's armed with new lawyers, including Alan Dershowitz, and they're seeking a new trial, buttressed by fresh witnesses.
