August 11, 2003--Oakland, CA?Bay Area's hip-hop dream team Hieroglyphics crew present their latest and second LP, Full Circle, on their own label Hieroglyphics Imperium. The first Hiero album since their highly acclaimed Third Eye Vision (1998), Full Circle features all the original crew members, including Del The Funky Homosapien, Casual, Pep Love, Domino, and the group Souls of Mischief.
See Also:"Over the past couple years, we've all pursued our solo projects," notes Souls of Mischief member Tajai, "But we've come back around and joined together for this record." And he adds, "We've improved our craft, but we're bringing hip-hop the way we always did: pure and simple." And that's exactly what Full Circle delivers. Just check for the go-for-self joint, "Powers that Be," where Opio, Tajai, Pep Love, and Del exchange lyrical darts in the true spirit of the hip-hop tradition. There's also "Make Your Move," a track about making a career out of the rap game, and dealing with all the good and bad that comes with it. The hook features the enchanting voice of rising Bay-Area soul singer Goapele, the newest member of the Hiero extended music family. On "Let it Roll" the Hiero rhyme sayers charge that their trademark style is being cloned and copied still today. The title track on the LP is a summation of the Hiero experience in the rap game. From being trailblazers in the West coasts' underground to going to the majors and now being indie again, Hieroglyphics is a unique model of longevity and innovation. "We've been through it all?major labels to radio airplay to being indie," says Pep Love. "We're back where we started, but we're stronger than before." Production on Full Circle is shared by in-house beat makers A+, Domino, and Opio. The Hieroglyphics crew remains one of hip-hop's most consistent and appreciated indie groups, selling over 3 million world-wide records and their award-winning website (http://www.hieroglyphics.com) keeps them in touch with their fans globally. So come Full Circle with the Hiero crew this October 7, 2003.
