He got you open on the 1999 Handsome Boy Modeling School project with "Waterworld", he thrilled the masses with his 2000 solo debut Self Preservation, and now acclaimed lyricist Encore is back!

He has signed on with the respected Hieroglyphics label for his sophomore album, Layover, to be released this Fall.

A three-year hiatus gave Encore some time to refresh his thought process and rejuvinate his creative flow. His artistic growth expounds upon the conscious lyrical content that he became famous for, while his approach to song writing delves into a harder, freer, funkier side of Hip Hop.

Aligning himself with Hiero has been a positive step toward presenting his next project. "I started as a fan of the whole Hiero click," explains Encore. "Domino and I have been real cool for a few years now. It was just a matter of time and opportunity. He has a solid understanding of where I want my music to go, and is behind it professionally and personally - which are both equally important to me."

Layover includes beats from Encore's long-time friend Architect (who did production on Self Preservation), as well as the solid touch from Northwest producers Jake One and Vitamin D. Guest appearances include members of the Hieroglyphics crew, Ladybug Mecca (formerly of Digable Planets) and Arcee.

The first single "Zigga Zigga" b/w "Essentially Yours" will drop this summer, and the Layover album will be released in late September. A Hiero family tour is also in the works.
