Dr. Dre, Eminem, Interscope Records and Universal have all been named in a Copyright Infringement lawsuit by London based, Minder Music Ltd. The lawsuit states that Dr. Dre and Eminem had used samples of a track titled "Backstrokin'" with out prior permission to do so on Dr. Dre's "Let's Get High", which appeared on Dre's 1999 release, "The Chronic". Minder Music Ltd are suing the aforementioned parties the sum of $3.5Million. Dre's attorney has hit back by stating that the sample used is a commonly used bass riff and that no copyright infringements were imposed.
If that wasn't bad enough, Eminem is due in court on May 30th over the 2001 lawsuit that was filed by DeAngelo Bailey. For those who cannot remember, Bailey filed the lawsuit after Eminem named him on one of his tracks, making him out as a bully from Eminem's past. Bailey has denied this and claims that the lyrics have ruined his reputation. Bailey is seeking $1 Million over damages.
