mountain brothers

-Grand Agent's "Grand Right Now" is the next single from the North Philly emcee's lp "By Design", on Groove Attack. This will be his first solo video, and Chops's second production to have a video (the first was Mountain Brothers' "Galaxies", seen on MTV, The Box, and MuchMusic). Grand's video was recently shot in Brooklyn by director Chezik. So be on the lookout! The album also features production by Hi Tek, Lord Finesse, Kutmasta Kurt, and others...

-Mystic's "Current Events" featuring DJ Revolution made it to #1 in Hits magazine, making it Goodvibe's second Chops-produced 12" to reach the top of the rap chart (the first was Bahamadia's "Special Forces" featuring Planet Asia, Rasco, Chops, and DJ Revolution).

-Mystic and Grand Agent were both featured in last month's Source magazine (Redman cover)! Is it a coincidence that both of them chose to work with Magnificent Butcher Productions, and both of them recently appeared in the Source? :-)

-Chops is currently working with South Philly emcee Bigfoot on several tracks for his debut project for Antra Records... Other artists and producers currently involved with / planned for inclusion in the Bigfoot album include the Spooks, Grand Agent, James Poyser, DJ Jazz, Kurupt, Jazzy Jeff, Talib Kweli, Common, and others.

-Los Angeles emcee Panda One (of Animal Pharm) recently released a dope solo 12" on Counterflow. "A's to Q's" features production by Chops and cuts by Philly-based DJ Kwestion.

On the International scene...

-Popular Japanese hip-hop group M-Flo recently released their new album, entitled "Expo Expo." The title song is a drum n' bass cut featuring vocals by Chops and Bahamadia.

-Japanese producer DJ Tonk, who has worked with a number of Japanese and American hip-hop artists including Sadat X, Cocoa Brovas, Afu-Ra, and others, has finished tracking a new joint featuring Chops and Zion of Zion I.

-Eccentric emcee/entrepreneur/disc jockey/lover of Kool Keith's ass, Princess Superstar recently finished recording a song with UK Grammy-winning folk/trip-hop artist Beth Orton, production by Chops!

As for the Mountain Brothers...

-Mountain Brothers are in high gear, back in the studio working on their next Chops-produced album, the followup to the critically-acclaimed "Self, Vol. 1", coming this fall. The current single, "Hostile Takeover"/"Day Jobs" is a single intended to bridge the 2 albums, signalling the upcoming re-release of the first lp as well as the development of the new album.

-Mountain Brothers also recently took a trip up to NYC to meet with producer DJ Honda and select tracks for an upcoming collaboration.

These and other happenings bubbling up for Chops and Magnificent Butcher Productions... be on the lookout for a Chops solo album, as well as 2MC (Grand Agent and Chops), chops and CMNR, Spaztik Emcee, and Dave Ghetto. Stay tuned for more!
