Boston's brightest stars shone at the 2001 Boston Music Awards, sponsored by WAAF 107.3. Held at the Orpheum Theatre on Thursday April 19th, the evening was hosted by MTV VJ Dave Holmes. Godsmack capped off a breakthrough year with four wins while C60 was the breakout band with five.

C60 swept with wins in the Indie Label categories for Outstanding New Rock Band, Outstanding Male Vocalist (Keith Smith), Outstanding Single and Outstanding Song for Crazy. C60 also took home the Outstanding Club Band award. Taking home two apiece were Aimee Mann and Mr. Lif. Mann won Female Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year (Save Me). Mr. Lif won Outstanding Rap/Hip-Hop Act and Outstanding Rap/Hip-Hop Album (Enters the Colossus). American Hi-Fi won the Rising Star award, Vertical Horizon's Everyhing You Want was named Single of the Year and Home garnered Staind a win for Video of the Year. Legendary producer Arif Mardin was presented the Ertegun Impact Award by Carly Simon. The BMA are sponsored by WAAF 107.3, The Boston Herald, Disc Makers, Savanna Dry and SESAC. Related Videos:
