A week after he received probation for carrying a concealed weapon, a lawyer for Eminem said the rapper might cop a plea in order to avoid jail time in a second criminal case.
See Also:Eminem’s attorney Walter Piszczatowski told the Detroit Free Press that he hopes to get probation for the rapper on a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon and a misdemeanor charge of brandishing a firearm in public. The charges stem from an argument between Eminem and an associate of hip-hop group Insane Clown Posse outside a Royal Oak, Michigan, car stereo shop in June. Eminem would face up to five years in prison for the felony charge and 90 days for the misdemeanor, but Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor Mark Bilkovic told the newspaper he won’t seek jail time if the rapper pleads guilty to those charges. A pretrial hearing is set for Monday. On April 10, a Macomb County judge sentenced Eminem to two years of probation - during which time he must refrain from excessive alcohol or drug consumption, attend counseling and avoid possession of firearms - after the rapper pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon. Prosecutors dropped assault charges in exchange for Eminem’s plea.
