The Furious Five are suing LL Cool J for copyright infringement over the song "4,3,2,1,." The 1997 song by Cool J is said to use a sample from the pioneering rappers classic song "Superappin'" Four members of the group charge in a suit filed December 22 that J's song sampled their song without permission. Melle Mel (Melvin Glover), Kid Creole (Nathaniel Glover), Mr. Ness (Eddie Morris), and Raheim (Guy Todd Williams) are asking for damages from the owners of the copyright to "4,3,2,1" who include LL Cool J Music, Def Jam Records, and Zomba Enterprises. "Superappin'" is the first single recorded by Grandmaster Flash. The group is also suing Will Smith for sampling the song on his album Willenium.
