The Wu-Tang Clan told MTV News how they developed the style of their new album The W. They listened to the sounds of hip-hop on the radio today and decided that they did not want to make an LP anything like the current status quo. "We had to sit back and listen to the radio," Inspectah Deck said. "It's going out of control now — it's real technotronic. We want to put the gravy back into it, the soul food back into it." A focus on the live aspect of music and less time spent on making a cleaner production sound was their aim. Snoop Dogg, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Junior Reid, Cappadonna, Isaac Hayes and Redman guest on the disc in stores now. "Gravel Pit" and "Protect Ya Neck (The Jump Off)" can be heard on the radio now.
