Scarlett Johansson and Deborah Harry have interviewed each other for a new MySpaceTV.com webchat.
As part of the site’s new Artist to Artist segments, the actress-turned-singer and the singer-turned-actress talk about meeting their heroes and recording on water.
Blondie star Harry recalls meeting actor Robert De Niro and making a "complete chump" out of herself.
She says, "It was just awful… It just ruined it. It was bad." And Johansson recalled sweating over a restaurant meeting with actor Peter Falk: "I couldn’t not say something because I love him… I thought I’ve just gotta suck it up." And, after complimenting Johansson on her album debut - a "great selection" of Tom Waits songs - Harry admits she admires the actress for recording the album "in a swamp."
She says, "Choosing to work down in The Bayou is, like, wow… I don’t think I’ve ever done it quite like that; I’ve done some weird things, like, on houseboats on the Thames and things like that, places that are watery like that.
"It does a lot to the tuning… Great humidity really effects tonality."
