"Batman" star Christian Bale is star in three "Terminator" sequels, according to Halcyon Productions.

Starring as John Connor, Bale, 34, is also likely to star in two further spin-offs, Victor Kubicek of Halcyon said.

Speaking to the BBC at the Cannes Film Festival, Kubicek revealed, "Christian was our first choice and he's a big fan of 'The Terminator,' so we're very lucky."

"But with Batman, he's already done the whole franchise thing, so we weren't sure he'd respond. He's really an actor's actor, so we're very proud."

McG is set to direct the film, which is due for release of May 22 next year.

Bale will next be seen in the Batman film, "The Dark Knight."
