Montgomery Gentry is three weeks from the release of its new album, "Back When I Knew It All," a CD in which they shook up the whole environment for their recording.
Instead of cutting the disc in Nashville, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry headed down Interstate 40 to Memphis, where they worked at the Ardent Studios, which have provided a setting in the past for productive sessions by such acts as Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Travis Tritt and B.B. King.
"When you work in Nashville, towards the end of the day, you start thinking about going home for dinner and trying to break off early to go see the family," Troy told Billboard magazine. "We wanted to go somewhere different to keep everybody in the groove of the record, where everybody can stay focused on what they’re doing."
With the album in the can, the duo is set to hit the road this summer on Toby Keith’s Biggest & Baddest Tour, which currently spans more than 30 dates, according to LiveDaily.com. The tour kicks off June 19 in Birmingham, Ala., with three other supporting acts: Carter’s Chord, Mica Roberts and Trailer Choir.
