Reba McEntire hosted the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday for the 10th time in her career. Not surprisingly, it’s gotten easier for her as she’s gained experience with the job, and it didn’t hurt that she also got used to working regularly on TV when she had her own sitcom.
See Also:"I’ve got a lot more confidence," she told the Associated Press. "I know a lot more of these folks that I get to work with, and we’re a wonderful team. And it’s, I don’t want to say ‘old hat,’ ‘cause I still get a little nervous, and butterflies still happen when I get on that stage. But I think I have more fun with it now than I did the first time." Reba didn’t win anything last night, but she was nominated with Kelly Clarkson for Vocal Event of the Year, for their duet "Because Of You." They toured on the same bill earlier this year, and they enjoyed working together so much they’ve slotted 24 more shows for the fall. "When we had to go out by ourselves, it was very boring," Reba noted. "I love to sing with her on her songs. She says she loves to sing with me on my songs, and we stay out on the stage the whole time. We never leave." Reba watched "American Idol" the year that Kelly won the talent competition, but this season, she’s not tuned in. "Once you get to sing with the No. 1 American idol," Reba said, "watching it on TV is just not the same."
