Yonkers rapperDMX pleaded not guilty to felony drug possession and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges yesterday in a Phoenix, Arizona courtroom, stemming from a raid of the rapper's house in 2007. As previously reported, X (born Earl Simmons) was arrested at 3 a.m. at his home last week, in Cave Creek on seven misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and four felony drug possession charges. Cave Creek Sheriff Arpaio revealed when officers tried to issue the search warrant, the troubled star attempted to barricade himself in his bedroom but eventually came out and offered no further resistance to the police and was booked. Police recovered a number of weapons and drugs at his home, and rescued five pitbull puppies. The dogs were taken to First Avenue Jail, where they will remain under the care of female inmates. Additional charges were later filled against X. According to local Arizona radio station, KTAR, a judge entered the plea for the rapper/actor at a brief court hearing. The New York MC was also reportedly late for court, showing up in jeans and an oversized white T-shirt. No word yet on the rapper's next scheduled court date. In 2007 detectives made several visits to DMX's Arizona property in response to animal neglect allegations. During the investigation authorities confiscated 12 pit bulls - 3 of which were deceased .
