Fantasia Barrino stole the show on the season 7 results episode of "American Idol" on Wednesday. Fantasia, who won "Idol" during season 3 in 2004, came back as a guest star and graced the stage with her new song "Bore Me". Barrino's performance trumped the contestants on Wednesday, especially that of Syesha Mercado, who was eliminated on the show last night. Fantasia had delved into acting in recent months. She finished the world-renowned play "The Color Purple," but she said she is returning to her music. "I'm working on an album right now and getting ready to go back on tour," Barrino told "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest. "I miss my music." The video of Fantasia Barrino's performance of "Bore Me" from Wednesday night is available on Finditt.

Date: Thu, May 22, 2008 05:52:35 PDT Fantasia's performance was one of the most astounding things ever seen on Idol and certainly showed the remaining contestants how it's done. If you didn't like it, that simply shows that you have no soul and you wouldn't know genius if it bit you in the butt. Around 85% of people are idiots, so I'm not surprised by the reaction Fantasia got. But that's OK, because the intelligent, sophisticated people were blown away, and there are more than enough of us to make her a star. Don't change, Fantasia!

Date: Sun, May 18, 2008 06:11:54 PDT Fantasia's promoters are going to ruin her. That performance would have had her voted off of AI in her competition. She won b/c she sang jazz, the blues, ballads, etc. phenomenally well. What she sang Wednesday night was sh*t pure and simple. Anyone who thinks differently...well, let's hope they are never in a decision-making capacity for our kids, the arts, etc.

Date: Fri, May 16, 2008 02:37:50 PDT You all serious need to shut up and stop hating.. Simon stated and I repeat, he stated that he was blown away by such a great performance from Fantasia. That came from his mouth. Fantasia is one of the best superstar singers of her generation. She may not fit the "white girl steeze" americam look (sans beyonce, alicia, or keyshia) but America is built on diversity. She is certainly the bomb, the performance was great... and if you heard her new song out there for the haters by Tasia and features monica ..she called it "No Stoppin".....respect that

Date: Fri, May 16, 2008 12:54:56 PDT Fantasia's performance was a tsunami of funk, soul, rythm and raw, distilled sexual energy. It transformed her in five minutes from a distant memory to a reinvigorated superstar. For those who didn't get it, that's ok- you either have soul in your soul, or you don't. Go watch Billy Ray Cyrus. I personally tuned in to the rerun of Idol the same night solely to watch Fantasia rock it again. And at the end, Simon, Randy and Paula were all applauding breathlessly, by the way.

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 04:23:26 PDT Stole the show? Stole the show? Stole the show? Yes dum dum...Stole the show! I think she did an excellent performance! I really didn't think the expression on Simon's face was ghastly (seems like that's the "word" of the day) but of amazement. I didn't think he knew she could move it like that! But we'll soon find out! I'm pretty sure he did an interview with someone who asked him of Fantasia's performance. So we'll see....

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 10:53:53 PDT Stole the show? They must have been watching something else. I hated it as well as my 17 year old daughter hated it. The beat was the only good thing about it. Not one of the judges liked it. Even Paula had a subduded reaction to it. If you look back at the judges at the end that says it all.

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 10:40:37 PDT I totally loved Fantasia last night, too! Her natural and exuberant energy, her performing talent, her originality and stage presence. She was awesome crazy FUN!!! She made the show worth watching. Otherwise, it would have been one of the most boring Idol nights ever. I really think Fantasia saved the show last night and gave everybody a lesson of what a true Idol should be about. I enjoyed every second of her performance!

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 10:25:46 PDT Idol from another country possibly ??? It was an embarrasment that she represented 'American" Idol. That was more like a performance (and look) I'd see on Survivor wherever. I agree....Simon's expression was of horror, not amazement...he's honest ALWAYS!

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 09:25:09 PDT Everyone knows she can sing. She sang a ballad last year on the show, so why would she want to repeat that? That performance was great! For good or bad, that's all everyone is talking about today.

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 08:53:02 PDT She screeched her way through that song. I was horrified and then caught Simon's same horrified expression. It was ghastly

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 08:47:28 PDT You are joking, right??!! Please tell me you are. That was probably the worst performance that has ever graced the AI stage. Even Simon was simply stunned at how bad it was...LOVED his expression! LOL!! How did she win AI? I will never understand that one.

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 08:37:20 PDT I agree...are you joking....the back-up singers did more singing than Fantasia....although she screamed alot and I didn't understand a word she said....It was a joke and I would have been embarrased....Simon's look said it all...WTF

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 08:36:43 PDT Stole the show? - who is writing this stuff? Simon's expression said it all - it was something so horrible to see - ghastly - it was truly unbelievable and not in a good way. I really cant find the words to express what it was like to watch that spectacle. It was like watching an alien or something. I can't believe it happened - and to think I shed tears when Fantasia won her winning song just a few years ago! What the hell happened to that girl?!

Date: Thu, May 15, 2008 08:27:29 PDT Stole the show? You're joking.....right? She looked like a fat hoochie mama squealing because her a outfit was too tight. Fantasia, you're time has (briefly) come and gone. Submit Your Comments About This Article:
