Former NFL star Curtis Whitley was found dead in his Texas home at the age of 39. Whitley’s body was found Sunday night in his trailer in Fort Stockton, Texas. A friend found him laying face down in his bathroom.

No cause of death has been determined but Whitley had a history of substance abuse. Police are still investigating.

Whitley played football for San Diego from 1992 to 1994. In 1995, the Carolina Panthers chose him in the expansion draft. He then signed on with the Raiders until he was suspended in 1998. Whitley never returned to the NFL.
