Rodney Atkins is the celebrity spokesman for the National Council for Adoption, a role that suits him well, given that he was adopted as a boy. He’s spoken highly of the couple that took him in, and it’s certain that Mother’s Day means a lot to him because of their acceptance.
See Also:Rodney is currently working on the follow-up to his album If You’re Going Through Hell, and it’s likely that the CD will include a nod to his birth mother, though they don’t really have a relationship. "I never met her, don’t want to necessarily," Rodney says. "She knows who I am. I’ll just say thank you. But there’s a song called ‘Living Proof’ that mentions my birth mother. You just reach a point in your life, you kind of want to reference that, say thank you and move on." No date has been set for the next album’s release. In the meantime, he’s released "Invisibly Shaken" as the fifth single from the album If You’re Going Through Hell. Each of the first four singles went all the way to No. 1.
