The organisers of the forthcoming Isle Of Wight festival have announced that they have used the money saved by Lily Allen withdrawing from the bill to make the festival more environmentally friendly.
See Also:As previously reported on NME.COM, Allen withdrew from the bash in March. Festival organisers released a statement today (May 8) saying that they have spent the money saved on Allen's appearance fee on environmental measures, including a tree repopulation programme. The money has also been spent on research into bee habitats, and a scheme to increase local business partnerships to cut down on travel. Festival promoter John Giddings acknowledged that the festival will still have a negative impact on the environment, but said that these new measures would continue the ongoing improvement.
