Country singer Trace Adkins will stop by "The Young and the Restless" Friday to play an acoustic version of his No. 1 hit "You're Gonna Miss This." The singer makes a pit stop in Genoa City to sing as a surprise for Nick and Phyllis' first anniversary.
Adkins said he is scripted to be a friend of the guy who owned the bar where the couple got married. He also said the song "Miss This," which made it all the way to No.1 during its 20-weeks-and-counting stay on the Billboard Hot Country chart, lent itself well to taking a couple of guys with acoustic guitars to perform the song in an intimate setting.
The singer, who recently finished second on "Celebrity Apprentice," said his experience on the soap was a good one.
While Adkins has a new album on the way, he is spending more time in front of the camera lately and seems to be enjoying it. Next up for the singer is "An American Carol" which Adkins describes as a lighthearted family thing starring Kelsey Grammer.
Adkins said one of the reasons he has landed on the big and small screen so much lately is due to perseverance. He said if you stick around long enough and you have the chops, you will eventually have the chance to do some good work.
