Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are engaged, according to a source close to the diva, Access Hollywood reports.

Cannon's rep had no comment on the report when reached by Usmagazine.com. Carey's rep was unavailable.

Carey, 38, met the 27-year-old rapper-actor when he directed the video for her latest single, "Bye Bye," in late March.

"It's hot and heavy," an insider told Us Weekly in its latest issue, on newsstands now.

Cannon attended the premiere of Carey's film, Tennessee, in NYC on April 26.

Carey told Us Weekly it was "very nice" to work with Cannon, who, when asked what he loved about the singer, exclaimed, "Everything!"

"I've always had really low self-esteem, and I still do," Carey told Allure in March. "What's weird about that is being onstage, and the love that you get, and the adoration that you feel from your real fans. It's hard for a partner to compete – just imagine."

Carey was previously married to music mogul Tommy Mottola. They divorced in 1998.
